Should I buy a 350X. Is it allot faster than a mod 200X

I found a really really clean 85 350X forsale for $1400 OBO. My 200X has a new motor and has 12 to1 pistion, supertrapp exh and a K&N. Is a stock 350X allot faster than my 200X. Does the price seem high or is it fair?

I live in Soutern California and bike prices, even ATC's are a bit more than oher parts of the country. A 200X is worth about $1k around here if its clean so maybe a 350X is worth 12 or 13 hundred, I want it bad though.

If the bike is in clean shape, I think 1400 is an average price. I don't know where you guys find these deals on 3 wheelers. Most 350X in nice shape will run 1600-1700 around here. Most watercooled 250Rs in average shape will bring the same. I seen a few 200Xs for aroun 1200-1300. I only paid $700 for my 85 Z, but it is in the middle of a frame off now. About 4 weeks after buying it, my bottom end came apart. You get what you pay for. I am almost done. I will be paying for my new bottom end Friday and then it should only be about 2 more weeks and it will be up and running again. (with a totally new look too). To answer your question though, I think that 1400 isn't bad at all. I would offer him less. The lower you get the price, the better deal you get...
Many quads for sale. 400EXs, Z400, 450s ect.

Thanks for the input. I guess the price is fair. The thing is I don't want to sell my 200X and I don't need 2 trikes. I'm 29 with a house payment, a wife and a 4 month old baby but thats not your guys problem. Anyways, I think I'll go have a look at it. Thx

    350x,200x

I will tell you what I think - If you are used to your 200X, you will find that the one outstanding difference is that you CAN NOT mess around and not pay attention on the 350X. If you do, you will either end up in the hospital or at least a day or two off work. They are a different kind of machine and you must respect them. I think the price is fair, but of course you should offer a couple of hundred less to start with. Good luck and be very careful.
I have a large collection of outdoor equipment, ATV and MC parts, etc., and I like to trade. Also - If anyone needs special things made, I can make it. And if you have a broken part I can definitely fix it for you.

My 200X has good power but is not scary fast. I had a 85 250R and that thing was scary fast. If the 350X is a true competitor to the 250R then the 350X is significantly faster than the 200X. In a drag my trike will hold its own but its the power to pitch it out that you notice the most between the 200x and a more powerful ATC. Anyways I didn't get the trike. My wife did not share the entusiasm for another machine so if I want a 350X then I have to sell the 200x and I'm kind of attached to it. The motor is completely rebuilt and I now want to paint the tank, get new plastic, decals and a seat cover.

If the 350X is a true competitor to the 250R
I'll assure you that it is not in stock form, nor is it scary power wise. I think a 350x is really safer in alot of ways when compared to a 200x, for one it is far less tippier since it has such a wider axle, and you can make far more mistakes on a 350x with going too heavy on the throttle in the wrong situation than you ever could on a 250r, of course if you really it like a idiot, like I do, or totally don't pay attention then you have what you see in my avatar to the left LOL

Waterpump86 your collecting some good machines. Whats up next a Tri-Z? ANyways I agree with what your saying that the 200X is tippier. I have axle spacers but I don't use them becasue I've heard it puts unesessary stress on the axles. I think my 200X is safe but I actually feel that the more powerful high reving trikes like a 250R are safer in some ways becase with all the spinning power at the rear you can spin the back end easier thus steering with the throttle in a way. Example: Try to pitch out a 200X and if it won't brake loose you'll flip but a 250R will just brake loose and stay on all 3.

agreed, plus the fact that bikes such as the 350x and 250r have better suspension, which I think keeps alot of wrecks from happening, at the very least takes alot of soreness out on extended rides lol. It really all comes down to size. If you are a smaller person, a 200x makes a great machine, with the right person on one it is hard to catch them in the woods. However for 6'-0" plus people that weigh say 185 or over, I think a 350x is going to be alot more fun. You can build up a 200x to be fast, certainly it's possible to have one that will outrun a 350x that is stock easily. The problem arises when you want to take said trike with a 12:1 piston and bored to the moon and what not out on a all day trail ride in the 90 something degree heat. It isn't going to stay together long at all. The great thing about a 350x is that while it isn't as fast as a 250r, or quite as small and light as a 200x, it is about the best compromise you can have. If people could only choose one trike to ride in a variety of conditions I think that most would choose it. I keep seeing evidence of this at every riding spot I go to, and every trikefest, or trike ride as well. There are alot of good reasons for it's popularity. It can putt along through the woods all day if need be, yet it has plenty of torque for hillclimbs, etc, but then has a respectable amount of topend speed and power for faster sections.

The more we talk about it this the more bummed I get about not having a 350X. I had a 250R and loved the power but it was falling apart and my good friend wanted a trike really bad so I sold it to him for $500. All the plastic was roached, the clutch was totally wasted and the tires were bad as wellas a bunch of other worn out bearing anf seals, chain stc. I have to admit though the thing was still fast as hell and always started. Lost the titel too. Anyways he bought it and has totally resoted it and its beautiful now. I think I'm gonna stick with the 200X and make it look cool with some 18" or 20" tires and some plastic etc. If I really get anxious and have to get a 350X I'll do it, but I'll take a loss on the 200X, but thats the name of the game.
