decal removal

I have a 85 ford diesel that I'm trying to remove all the oem decals, they are all chipped up. I 'm using a heatgun and the decals are coming off fine but the adhesive junk is a bear to get off, I've tried the googoo gone junk and it don't work very good. is there another product out there?

3M makes a decal and stripe remover that you should be able to get at your local auto parts store. It worked pretty good on a Bronco that I bought from our town Police to take all the lettering off.

wd-40 ussually works too i have only used it on plastic i dont think it would hurt metal but better check first

Paint stripper works great, but you obviosly cant use in on painted surfaces. Also, good old gasoline works pretty good.

Thanks guys, I ended up finding a attachment thats a decal eraser. you chuck it into a drill and let it rip. takes the decal right off, and it does not hurt the paint, great product.

good old Ronsonol lighter fuel (for Zippo lighters)... the stuff works great,, and it dont hust the paint!! ive transplanted many inspection stickers with it.... it even works on bubble gum...
