    Carb swapping

Will an 84 250r carb fit on an 82 250r? I know they are different models, but are they the same size? Will I need to swap intake boots or slides?

    Thanks,

go with a 86 flatslide. it will fit and perform better. the later model boots will also work if your is cracked. i would looc for a 96 or so cr250 boot. i know you are looking for a carb and i have a couple flatslides if you are interested. i just never mees with the round stuff

To answer your question, yes an 84 carb will fit on an 82. But be sure to take the boot from the air intake box to the carb off, and soak it in real hot, boiling water would be best so it can expand somewhat. The 84 carb is much bigger, so if you just put it on normally, chances are you're gonna rip the boot. And yes you are going to have to change slides as well. The cable itself can stay, and so can the boots if you soak the one in hot water, but the whole carb must be changed.
