    Installing a stator coil on a 185S

I just got a 1981 185s and the stator coil was bad. The black wire was broken of the old one so I have no idea where the wire goes to. The new stator coil has a loop on it which the old one did not have. Anyways, I have no idea where the black wire goes and if the loop on the coil faces in or out, do I need to attach a ground some where, do I soder the wire on?

    I would appreciate any help.

I don't follow you on the loop. I can't say I have seen this. It's possible someone may have added the loop to keep the wire from touching the flywheel.
Anyhow, The Black with red striped wire goes to the smaller coil on the stator. Do you have a wiring diagram for it? Need one?

I can also use a wiring diagram, the link above has a picture of the coil with the loop on it. What do ya think it's for or is that where the black/red wire goes.
