I have 22's on there right now, and I know I'll want to go a bit smaller. What do you 200xers think?

Stay with 22's.
200X's need ALL the ground clearance & topend they can get.
I'm gonna go 20s if I buy new tires for mine. I have 18" turf tamers on it now (came on the bike) and I scrub the ground a lot. It handles great though. You can always adjust speed with gearing, I'd just worry about ground clearance.

22's are a good tire to stick with. The 200x is a pretty low slung machine, and even with 22's you can get hung up in the woods pretty easily. 20's are fine if you ride in a pretty freindly (i.e. no big nasty rocks and stumps all over).
Remember with smaller than stock tires, it's easier to over rev your motor, and that can mean some sierious problems. One of my X's with small tires was really good for that.
i would go with 20's i have 22's on my 350 and 20's on my 200 and have moved them back and forth and the 20's gave me alot more useable power on the 200
