    200x,350x oil levels.

I have both a 86 200x and 350x but no owners manuals to go with them. There are 2 marks on the dipsticks, so the question is, where do u want the oil level?, and do u check it after it's been fully screwed in or wipe it clean and just dip it for a sec? My shop manual for the 200x just gives capacity, but it's not home for me to check right now, and i'm sure the 350 shop manual would do the same, heck, if anyone can even give me the 350's capacity, that would be great. Thanks guys!

Fill to the top mark. Better to run a bit more and be safe. When checking the levels, just set the stick into the hole, don't screw in.

They both hold just under 2 quarts of oil. I know the 350X is 1.91 quarts because I just changed it this Sat. and that is what the manual calls for.

2.43 is after engine disassembly. 1.9 quarts for a regular oilchange.

350X's hold more oil because of the oil cooler and actual crankcase size. In at least three different sections of my shop manual the 200x oil capacity is listed as:

    1.2liters (1.3 US qt, 1.1 Imp qt) after dis-assembly
1.0liters (1.1 US qt, 0.9 Imp qt) after draining

If I had a 350X shop manual I would list that info too.
    When checking the oil level:
Warm the engine to normal op temps
Remove the dipstick and clean it
Put the dipstick back into the filler hole without screwing it in
If the oillevel is near the bottom line or does not show gradually add oil until it close to the top mark.
Do not overfill the crankcase because the excess oil will aerate and cause lots of drag as the crank whips through it.

the oil I buy comes in litres, and it takes exactly two of them after changing the filter out, to put it to the top mark, with the dipstick threaded in. Does it say in the manual to check it with the dipstick threaded out Mobular?
