Clear Coat or Not?

I jsut gave my 250es fork bottoms a mild polish this arvo. I am wondering if i should clear coat em or leave them bare metal?

I ask this because last time i polished something i dident clear coat it (engine clutch cover) and when rain went on it, it oxidized leaving horrible white dots everywhere.

What should i do?

You could do a spray on clear for a quick fix, or have clear powder-coat or clear anodizing done.
