    computer help

    i know this is off subject but my father in law bought a old computer from a garage sale. when i try to use internet wizard it ask me to insert the windows 95 disk, but i do not have it. i tried to install windows 98 but the processer was to slow. is there any way around this or does anyone know were i can get a bootleg copy of windows 95 :?: . thanks

    i cant even get it to dial up without the disk. on my own computer i can get there but i am not sure what updates it has.

    Either borrow a disc or reformat the HD and install a fresh version of 95 2ED or 98/ME.

    I know where to bootleg anything but bootlegging outdated software is as pointless as selling it, if ya know what I mean.

    If you tell me what files it asks for, Ive got about 12 Differant Versions on Windows, so i can email the files to you.

    What its looking for are the TCP/IP files which are not installed as default on Windows 95, like they are on 98, and you will need a Win95 CD to install them. Either version of 95 will work. Then you will have to update Explorer, and you cant use any version of Explorer above 5.0, and ca lot of sites still wont work properly. I dont understand why Windows 98 will not work. It will run on a 486/66 so if your processor is slower than that, trying to get on the internet is a lost cause anyways. It does require 16M RAM, and about 350M of hard drive space though, but again, if you dont have that, its a lost cause.
