    Rear YTM Noise

My YTM 225 project is going pretty well, the only problem is I have a weird clunking noise coming from the rear. It is not when the machine is running, but when its shut off and I rock it from side to side. I think its comming from the swingarm. Any one have any input? I am also thinking about putting new plastic all around. Anyone know how much it would cost new, or have any leads on where I can find some in really good condition? Already looked on e-bay, no luck. Oh yea the pastic is blue.

Look for the axle moving in and out of the carrier, or for the swingarm moving on the pin.

Oops, Also check the pivot shaft on both sides where the swingarm mounts for loose hardware or damage. There should be little black rubber covers that conceal them.Another thing it could be is rear axel bearings or ,less likely,it could just be your rear disc brake making noise. It's a floater disc so they all make noise.Good luck.

I would check your axle for play. Bearings could have gone bad. There are also swing arm bearings that could be causing this noise and of course the pins for the shock. If you can "rock" the machine from side to side, something is worn. It should be stiff and solid, i.e. no play.
Anyone know of a new project machine for me around Wisconsin?
