Just got my first Tecate, need help!

I just picked up my first Tecate yesterday. it is the first bike I have owned that is not a Honda.

I need to know how to check the oil in the bottom end. Also is there a place for Kaws like serviceHonda?

I can't find a date on the trike either, is it an 85 like I was told?

Does everyone w/ these machine run stock tire sizes? if not what are you running?

Where can I get an air filter and a cover for the air box?

Tried to load pics but they are too big

There should be a sight glass on the roght side of the engine toward the bottom. That is how you check the trans. oil.

You could try to find an air filter cover on Ebay....and an air filter on ebay too, or just buy a new K&N or an UNI air filter... hope this helped! And try to find someone who can resize your pics so we could see them!!!!!

Thanks for all the help so far!

It is an 85 for sure.

Should the sight in the side be full to the top w/ the oil?

Where can I find a service manual for this machine?

Please keep all the info coming

p.s. who can resize photos? I have pics of my 83 and 85 250r, my 85 tecate and the 89 pilot that I would like to post.

oil level mid-way up on the sight glass is fine.

for the manual, try robertskelton@webtv.net. If not they are on ebay all the time. If your is an 85, you need to get the manual with the 85 supplement chapter.

thanks for the offer on the resize. I will send the pics and you can just post them if you like.

The shift forks worked out killer. they looked to be new. I will send 5 pics of the tecate, 4 of the 83 r and 1 pilot pic. I still need to take some of the 85 R

Thanks again for the great parts.

Well you can go to buykaw.com and look for the part numbers you need. Then go to cycle-parts.com and put the part numbers in there to order. BUt remember you must have atleast 100$ worth of stuff to order in order to have it processed........peace
