Teaching quads a lesson
on the LT230, how do you properly set the timing, when putting a motor together? It has no open port to view the flywheel to indicate TDC. I THINK if I put it to TDC, and install the cam and rocker cover so as the cam is not (obviously) operating a valve, (it wouldnt go together if it were, anyway) then it should run, correct?? anyone familiar with these motors?? I will be final assembly tomorrow.

I dont know if yours is the same as my girlfriends, but next to the recoil starter there is a small plug, you screw it out and turn the engine over till there is a t visible in the plug. Then look at your cam sprocket. There will be a t shaped mark on it. You then you align your cam sprocket so the T is upside down so the to of the t is level with the cylinder head and the l part of the T is pointing towards between 11&12 o'clock.
