The most popula brand is going to be weisco. I prefer Pro-X pistons myself. They are not quit as hard as weisco's and tend to wear the piston instead of the cylinder itself. In the long run it will make it where you don't have as much of a demand to bore it per rebuild, generally just a fresh set of rings. Honda pistons are actually very good but they are pricey and I don't know if you can get em with a dome to increase the compression.

Ebay has alot of good items but now is the time to decide if you want to run a stock compression piston or if you want to bump it up to a 12:1 or somthing. There is some power to be gained from this. Get in any four wheeler mag and give some of the ads a call. There will be a number of them that can hook you up. I deal alot with rockymountainatv.com but sometimes run into problem getting stuff for older trikes. The place I generally deal with for the older stuff is called J&M Supply out of Memphis TN.

If you measure the cylinder and it is within the specs to replace it with a piston of the same size you can. You will need to have it honed and make sure you have the proper clearance between the piston and cylinder wall before you just throw it together though. Wait until you get the new piston and then carry it to someone with the tools to hone it and have them fit the cylinder to the piston. Be sure the know what they are doing also. Go ahead and pick up a repair manual off ebay and do some reading. It might even help you. Sometimes mechanics will screw you if they think you don't have a clue what things should cost or how anything works.

Boreing generally runs from 45-60 bucks. It depends on the labor rate the shop you go to is charging. Generally they charge for 1 hour. You will need to have the piston before it can be bored.

I am a newbie here and I hope this doesn't sound to stupid, but, what is a screen name. I promise I am better with engines than I am with a cpu.

you can get pistons not just for the stock bore and 12:1 but the inbetween compression ratios alos so keep that in mind and that a 12:1 needs race gas or a octane booster. A compression ratio that doesnt need race gas is alot cheaper in you gas prices to.
