'CRF' It has a big badge on it that says the letters CRF. Looked it up on search engine and I just got 18 million pages of CRF 450 links.
Also is an Answer silencer descent?
this is all on a 1986 250R.
Thanks!

If you can Id pick up that pipe ASAP. It stands for Crotch Rocket Factory. Its a pretty rare pipe from what I can tell, I havent seen anyone on the board that has one. A guy named Roger Burman used to race with these pipes. Heres the magazine article about his 250R:

I already didIt came on an 1986 250R I just picked up. I had never heard of it, so I was just curious if its a good pipe. it has surface rust on it...guess it was the 'raw' finish. Whats the best way to clean it up....some steel wool?
Got any info on these guys? Could you buy these pipes anywhere or just from CRF? I am wondering if other work was done to this motor also. The guy i got it from said the guy he got it from had put a 300R kit in it...but they dont make a 'kit'. Thats why I have been asking how I find out what all has been done to this thing. The guy i got it from didnt ride it much, once or twice a year.
Thanks for the info!!
Answer used to make alot of the major manufacturers 2-stroke silencers back in the day (you can see the word "Answer" stamped near the USFS info alot of the time), as well as supplied some aftermarket pipe maunufacturers with their stingers (DG, Dynoport, AAEN etc.). They used to market their own silencer called the Answer S/A but its no longer available. I had a Dyno-port pipe with an Answer S/A silencer on my old '85 LT250R Racer. As I recall the stinger had "Answer" written in blue and the "S/A" was in red.

Nice score. Very rare too I would say...
From the best of my knowkedge CRF only sold their stuff direct. Is there any engraving on the side of the cylinder? Most builders used hand engrave their logo on the side of the cylinder.

Yeah Virgil is right, CRF stands for Crotch Rocket Factory, rare pipe to say the least. Anyone at TF who seen my Z saw how large the stinger on it was (LRD), the CRF pipe I seen for a Tri-Z was atleast another 2 inches in diameter, fricken huge! Thats definetly a good pipe you've got there.
