    Going to Pismo in September'04

I haven't been there since I was a kid (13 yrs ago at least). What has changed? Any thing I need to know? How much psi do I drop my tires to when in the sand? What about the beach, do I need to drop them? I will not be bringing the Atc's. Son blew his top and I havent fixed it yet and we will stay in local hotel (already booked) Whatever information you want to post is welcome

I was there a yr or so ago for the first time in 20 yrs....It did change a little since I was there....There is no Sand Center anymore, You cant ride from the inlet in on your ATC, you have to start from post 2...There are alot of areas fenced off but there is still about 3,000 acres to ride...No Devils Slide....That was the major one for me...I was loaded in my truck with trailer and I just kept my tires aired up until I felt I was getting stuck...Then got out and droped to about 20-25 LBS....Pulled out no problem...You shouldnt have any problem getting back to Comp. Hill if you follow Sand Hwy...Dont know what you drive but that route is a safe bet....Other than that, everything is the same...Ive never been out there without something to ride so Im not sure how much fun that will be....I might be out there in Sept. sometime I hope...What time are you going????

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4/v8-5.2L So, we should be ok, I assume We will be there on Sept 22-25. Wife wants to take kids to Hearst Castle also. We just booked the hotel Let me know when your going...I also remember Devils slide. I also remember riding from the camp site ALL the way out... This is the first time doing it on my own with the family and wife wanted to stop a few places on the way, so, figured I would leave the atc's home. Next year PM me if you want..Where are you coming from?

Looks like I will be missing both of you. My family has a Pismo trip planned for August 26-31. Guess it will just be me and the nephew showing up with trikes. Everyone else wants to ride those four wheeled quady things..

We actually had planned to go in Oct'04 for the claim festival, but they moved it to Nov'04, so we cancelled (no charge) and changed dates to Sept'04. The charge for Sept was $194 total, but to book for Aug it was $497. Big difference!

Wish it was 4 hours for me to get to Pismo. Hell it's 6-7 hours to just reach Bakersfield. But it will be worth it to do a Pismo trip.. Now I have to dig my tent out and claim my spot on the trailer. AAHHh to sleep on the beach again..

    Where are you located Nitekrawler?

I live in Victor Valley area "High Desert". I have been bragging to wife for 10 yrs, and finally we are going! All our other cars/trucks would have made it there (new cars/trucks) but then nothing... Now with the Atc's and the Jeep GC 4x4-AWD we can drive out and have fun. Although, no Atc's this trip, wife has it planned out... I think it will be great to show kids (ages: 9-14) where dad used to go as a kid

I would also be great to let the kidies play on the ATC's in the SAND!!!! Fix them and Bring them...Screw the hotel, you can camp on the beach for like 8 bucks a day...Spend the money you will save from the Hotel on the bikes and fix them...If you do that I will make it a point to be there with my crew and have a nice sand experience..

Hey Reno....Can you make both trips?????

Sure wish I could, but I just started this new job and had to plead to get those days off in August. And in September we have the National Championship Airraces just 3 miles from my house. I can't miss seeing those FA-18 's F-16 / Stealth Fighters / A-10 Warthogs / etc flying over the house.

What is the Pismo weather like in October? Maybe they will let me take time off then..
