    electrical testing question

I'm haveing problems getting a spark on my 185s. It does have a very weak spark that can only be "seen" by holding the your finger to the spark plug electrode, and then again, it's very weak. So I did a test on the excitor coil and I came up with a problem. I put one wire of my fluke meter to the wire from the coil, and I grounded the other wire on the cylinder. Right away the resistance read 220 ohms. Then it quickly declines to 180, 140 100, 60, 20, 0, and then it will actually read a negative resistance! All the while I'm holding the wires in place. What is going on here?

I think there's something wrong with my multimeter. I tried to test the continuity through the spark plug cable and boot but the multimeter read overload. Which would mean there's no continuity, right? But that doesn't make sense because I was still getting a very weak spark.

if you put the meter leads together you should read between 0 and 1 ohm.... if that works, I'd say the meter is ok.
