Skat Trak Tire Question

Thinking about getting a set of the Skat Trak Extreme Haulers for my Z....I think I will get the 9 paddle with the 8 in. rim...Anyone ever had these???? Please let me know what you thought of them....Quite the investment!!! Also might try the Mowhawk Skat Trak front tire...

I have a set of those and sand skate 2's. I tried the haulers last weekend on my trx and I liked how they performed. They were also alot smoother ride than the skates. I am going to try them on one of the trikes this coming weekend, should work even better with less weight. The skates were great for turns but when i raced a banshee with haulers he pulled away with ease, thats when I went back to the truck and swapped to the haulers. I have a front mohawk to I will try this weekend but on a trike I can't see it making much of a difference over stock being so light in the front end.

I was just thinking the Mowhawk because it looked kinda cool...These will be going on my Drag Z So I will be basically going straight the whole time...Maybe some cruising around on the pipe here and there throwing up some sand...Where did you get yours??? Online???? How would you say the hole shot was on the Haulers compared to your Sand Skates????

My haulers came with the last 250r I bought, the mohawk came with it to. I don't know how to compare the two but I know I won't even be taking the skates with me this time. The skates were really lumpy at take off and while going slow it shook the bike like crazy. I think the paddle on the skates are way to tall. Silver lake isn't that big and there wasn't much need for the skates, you mainly just go straight, either shooting up the hills or drag racing others. If I was going to buy another set of paddles I would get haulers.

I have a set of 8 paddle haulers, they are #1. I also have a set of GBC "THE TRAKKER" a normal v paddle, I hate them. The haulers in wet sand hook up to good. I run 8 inch and I very the air psi from wet sand to dry sand and it helps bunch. My next paddle purchase will be a set of 10 paddle Skat Trak Edge. Hopefully with them I can get the best of both worlds drags and trails.

Haulers are kick butt tires, the ONLY thing for drags!! I ran 8 paddles on my 250R, and running 10 paddle on my 85 Z.

As for Extreme Haulers over haulers, I wouldnt spend the extra money really. Extremes are just reinforced on the paddles, but Ive never had a paddle come off my machines, or seen a regular set fail.
If you really serious about drag racing, look into the superlite buffs. Haulers are light compared to regular tires, but you should pick up a pair of superlites on aluminum!!!! You could find a 3 year old kid to pick up the tire and rim and carry it for you.... thats no joke!

As for mohawks, Ive never tried them. Im running a smoothie on my 85 and it works great in sand.

If you wanna save cash, take a stocker front tire, a DA sander or belt sander, and you've got yourself a mohawk tire or smoothie. Thats pretty much how Skat Trak does it!

Buffed haulers on aluminum rims are super light!!!!! I've picked up a set one time and I could hold with one finger because they're so light. And if you get bored you can also play catch with them to!!

One last thing. I've heard that Nankang(?) went out of business and they suppose to supply the tires for skat trak. So alot of places are short on skat trak tires!

Does Nankang supply them with all their tires? Ive had a set that were Chen sing, and smokinwrenches are some odd ball brand Ive never heard of. Im unsure of the set I have now, they are buffed clear down and dont have any side wall writings.

As for a shortage, if you can't find them, go to www.jimssandtoys.com He is the paddle tire king, and can get anything you want. His prices are top notch around here, but shipping will hurt ya if your not close.

Thats the story that I heard.
Nankang was making their carcas and they went out of business.
Supplies are kinda low right now, until they can get a new carcas made.

I never knew that they made a 13 paddle tire!! But for $329 they should be good.

Skat trak will custom make any size tire / paddle combo you want... it all comes down to how much you wanna spend.. lol

As for Nankang manfacturing the carcasses, Im pretty sure thats false. Skat trak buys old tires and does their thing to them. Im sure they dont go through a 3rd party at any time. Take a look at 10 sets of haulers sometime. 4 sets, if not more will be different brands on the sidewall, if not more. The new sets Ive seen bought in the last year, have all been buffed down so they sidewalls are no longer visible. Then they write on them with a paint pen the size. At least thats the ones Ive seen bought new in the last year.

I really don't know if Skat Trak is having a problem with supplies of carcas but I've read couple people with DS650 are having problem finding tires for 10" rims.
I could be wrong, can't trust everything you read.

I called them up just the other day...They have whatever I want in stock ready to ship....Didnt think to ask them about any shortages though...I think I will be going with the 20x10x8 Extreme Haulers 9 paddle buffs on some Douglas Aluminum....That should do the Trick

What all mods have you done to the top end? 9 paddles sounds about right on a fairly modded machine. It would be to much on a stocker though.
