    yfz450

alright i was thinking of buying a 2005 z400, because it seems a be a good comfortable quad, but after hearing so much about the yfz 450 everywhere, i cant help but take into consideration. i love speed so i think it would fit me well, but i think i might feel really uncomfortable on it, im 6ft tall.

depends on what your doing with it for trail the Z400 is the only way to go. I rode with a guy who had one a few times before he turned full time sand rat. He had a shee before and hated it. it bottomed all the time because trail wasnt what it was set up for. the reverse is a plus when you have to get out of the way. Another of our riding partners had a 400EX with no reverse and always needed help getting it un stuck. I'd go with the Z my self. I kinda wish i had ridden all three of these quads. I declined offers to ride the EX, shee and the Z400.

z400's are good bikes. they are powerful, handle good, and have reverse. myself, i would go with the kfx400 to get it in green, but they are the same bikes other than one says suzuki and the other says kawasaki

it is all about riding style,,, i rode a ltz400 before i bought a YFZ,, if i wouldn't have ridden the yfz i would have bought the z400 ,, reverse might be nice but i would rather have a more moto-x tuned machine,,, the YFZ is awesome to ride in any conditions,,,,,,

You're right, I just read an article about the 05 Z400's and they are coming with a bigger carb and front rezzie shocks. I can't wait to see the new Quadracer 450 though, might be EFI.

I really liked them both, but at 5' 7" and 170 lbs, the Z400 fit me a lot better right "off the shelf." A few setup changes though, and the 450 would have made me just as happy, or happier. Both are fine machines. Between the two, though, I think youll find the YFZ will handle a lot more abuse, and will come out of disasters in a lot better shape. And if you are looking for an MX quad, and you are a more advanced rider, I recommend staying away from the Z400. The subframe and front of the frame is poorly designed from a standpoint of strength, and the high flyers and hard landers are cracking and breaking frames A LOT. Just ask Trike, Hes got more weld than frame on his! It would be fine for less abusive riding, but if it ever had one of those hillclimbs that went wrong, and it took a few rolls on its way down, I dont think it would fare as well as the YFZ when it got to the bottom.

I ride a YFZ...and I am 6'2" It fits me comfortably and many racers / riders have them athat are over 6'. Go to www.yfzcentral.com and learn a ton about them. Overall I feel they are a better bike than the Z-400. Or you can wait until the rumored Z450 is realeased?????

Also For comfort I did add a +1" taller, +1" forward steering stem to my YFZ.

Did you ask about the 04?
Dealers usually hike the price of the 05 during this time of season and they're more realling to make a deal on a 04, but it's always nice to get the new model year.
