The piston is connected to the rod by a wrist pin. When you take the circlips out you are supposed to be able to just slide it right out of the rod and piston but most of the time you have to tap it with something on one side to get it out. Most likely, since the piston is cracked the wrist pin will probably be a little difficult to get out. Just make sure you be careful while knocking it out...brace the rod and be easy on it or you could damage the rod and the rod bearings. Good luck!!
