10w-40 Mobil. Anything that is "NOT" energy conserving should be fine.

I run amsoil in my 83 200x, trx 250, klt110. My machines see a lot of use year round. So far so good with the oil I have chosen.

The guy at the honda shop told me that car oil is too fine for atv's motorcycles
Due to the wet clutch, it needs a bit more grit in it for the clutch to grab well, he said it also does damage to the head, however I've always run car oil, just regular castrol gtx, lately i've been running syntec, I bought some castrol 4stroke motorcycle oil, and plan on switching over, but I also heard once you start using synthetic, it's bad to switch back. The only reason why I semi-believe the guy is because I noticed my clutch seemed to be slipping a bit
    Caution
Do not "POP WHEELIES" and run for any distance with the ATC. The oil capacity is relatively small and the oil will drain out of the oil pump area thus causing loss of oil pressure, resulting in costly engine damage -CLYMER

Oh, and a clutch ques. for the clutch gurus:
When i turn off my bike, it does a whirring sound, and like something still spinning, and then a KA-Chunk. My friend said it is the one-way clutch bearing. Is that what would do that? could it be worn out, or not advanced enough?
    any knowledgeable suggestions appreciated

My owner's manaul says to run 10W-40...but I can't remember the specific letter designations it asks for. Our ATC manuals were written back before the companies figured out they could rebrand oil as "motorcycle oil" and sell it for 4-5 times the cost of a quart of regular oil.
