2 strokers good trail trikes?

Sure are, just not as good as a four-stroke. Look at the GNCC season and see how many people like Bill Balance have switched from their championship winning TRX250R's to the YFZ450 and such.

They make great trail bikes it just takes some gearing and engine mods to produce the lowend grunt a four-stroke will make. I'd recommend a 200X or 350X for a trail bike though.

If you like to pretend that you are doing a xcrountry race like I do during trail riding, I prefer a 2 smoke, if you like to put and screw arond a lot, get a 4 stroke, like biggreen said, 200x or 350x.

Well a highly modded 2 stroker wouldnt be advised for trails, even though I have done it. A four stroker is just easier to handle in tight situations and they are alot more tame. Now if you have a good running 2 stroke that has a nice smooth power curve it is possible. But you tend to have issues of fouling plugs due to not being able to really hit the 2 stroker hard.

I've always found the '83 - '84 Aircooled R's to be excellent trail bikes. The aircooled motors seem to have more bottom end grunt and you don't have to shift as much trying to find the right gear with the 5-speed trannys. They certainly handle better than a 200X or even maybe a 350X. I have seen them start to load up though on really hot days in tight trails.

well, im looking into getting a trike, and i want to find the perfect one for me. I like speed, but i like to putt sometimes to. maybe the 200x or the 350x is the right one of me. will the 200x be able to haul my 250lbs around ok?

You're a big boy like me - You would be pushing it on a 200X. I've owned 3 (one '84, two '85's) in my days and at 6'1", 250lbs, they're a little cramped. Hill climbs can be an issue too with that much weight. A 350X is more for you. As far as reliability goes - they're Hondas. I would also recommend a Yamaha 225DX or R - I have one and its a great trail bike in every way.

I always thought my tri z was a great trail bike. It had good low end and I could lug it down and put through tight trails with no probs. Owned the trike for over a year and never fouled a plug.

Really it doesn't matter what you get it's about what you like. I've had many machines and I like them both in the woods. If your a putt putt kind of guy I would lean towards the 4-strokes but if your on the go more, either would be fine.

To answer the question, I'd say yes. My Tri-Z and my R were great no matter where I took them.

I've trail ridden 2 strokes for years. No problem. Nothing beats a good 4 stroke for hill climbing, though. I've been trail riding my Tri-Z about every weekend since june and haven't fouled a plug yet. As a matter of fact, I sold my 200x because it just wasn't any fun anymore. I am 6'4" and 250, and i'll tell you the Z pulls my big ass way better.

You need to be fairly used to a 2 stroke to trail ride it well, but a tri-z or 250r will lug pretty low before it will die. If you go with a 2 stroke, just learn the power curve before you climb any big hills.

350x would be a fun 4 stroke, down side to it: Hard to start, no reverse, VERY light frontend from what i'm told. A 250sx or a Yamaha 225DR would be the ultimate trail bike, in my opinion.

i have ridden a friends 225dx (hes who got me hooked on trikes, god bless him) and i really liked it. but it seems like most trikes are easier to get ahold of than the 250sx and the 225dx

i was raised on 2 strokes, so i can ride them just fine. my warrior was my first 4 stroke, and ive only had it since march of this year

get urself a good big red and a 350x and ull be set..lol ...or u can get the 250sx wich is good for almost anything..i hear its got the power of a 4 stroke and the higher revs of a 3 stroke..not sure if its true but im sure everyone else on here would know
