Help! Going crazy on 350X oil level

I changed the oil last Friday. I put the recomeneded amount back in - 1.91 US qrts for a periodoc change. For some reason it still barely read on the lower line of the dipstic. Since I have a manual and put the recomended amount back in, I went ahead and rode it all weekend. Now thinking about it I may have run the bike with a low oil level. How much damage did I do? Should I just pour more oil in till it reads higher on the dip stick even though I know I have the right amount in there?
    Thanks, Chris

    You're not alone....

    '85 350X here.
When I did my clutch installation, I definitely put 2.43 qts. in.
BUT.....after I changed it again, it only took 2 (1.91 in the manual).
So I am right on there.
    BUT......

My dipstick readings are goofy, just like yours.
Wait and see, the next time you ride it and check it, it'll be different.
I've ranged from just a wee bit less than 1/8" high and low before.
Why? Heck if I know. Something to do with rate oil drains back to the crankcase?
All I know is it's never too low/empty and it's always got fresh oil.
    That's all that matters.

Thanks a bunch. I'm still going to add a little oil tonight and get the reading up a little higher just so I can sleep better at night. I won't put to much though.

    aobut your oil

Are you guys checking it after it has been sitting for a while perferably overnight after the oil has had time to drain back down. And if it is low after you change it I would go ahead and follow the marks on the dipstick, after all that is why they are there. not to be rude of anything
