and does anyone know if the 90 even has that much more power than the 70?
also this guy said its manual so thats seems pretty cool

I should move at a good pace. I have a 110(not much difference from a 90), and it has good power for what it is. It would be cool having that power in a tiny 70.

It can be done with a few mods. but again, why not just get a bigger trike. Just haveing more power is not going to make it a trail bike. And besides the 70 is a blast the way it is.

If you want to still do the transplant then give Roy Franks an email (he doesn't check the boad on a regular basis). Here is a pic. of a 70 that he put a 125m engine in, a lot more power, hi-lo and electric start.

you could go with the big bore kits for the atc70 that keep poping up on ebay...they are sold by this company on ebay .http://www.dratv.com/atc70honda.html ...comes with the cylinder/gaskets/piston/etc...they usually go for $90 +/-, a lot cheaper than on their website....that kit would put your 70 (72cc) at around 90cc....then you know its fresh...just a thought...good luck with your project

from what i understand you can do this swap in a day if you have the right tools and decent fabrication skills. personaly i'd do it with a 125 motor just for the electric start. i believe you have to get a 90 wiring harness or make one custom for it though.

aight well i won a atc 70 head off ebay so im just gonna stay with the 70 motor and probally just go with the big bore kit but you guys keep saying you see it on ebay, i cant find it. if somone could paste a link in this tread that would be great.

    thanks,
    Chris

also the reason im putting more power in the atc 70 is just cuz i like to screw around the yard and ride wheelies. it was alight when i got the bike but the power seems to be on a downward spiral.

first thing you need to do is to check the ignition timing, odds are that the timing is retarded. over time this will happen and adjustments need to be made. you can do this with the timing light for a car. neg and pos of devise to 12v batt, start bike, pull starter cover off, pull trigger of devise and check before you buy engine kits that still wont work well with retarded timing. I run my timing advanced about 1/16 before thefire mark.Give me a call anytime, i have everything you need along with a gauranty for the big-bore kits we install.

Nothing like digging up a 16 month old thread. I am sure anything he needed has been done by now.

70's dont have timing adjustment, its in the flywheel which is keyed, it aint movin!
Perhaps check the condition of the points which is behind the flywheel.

Why would you want to do that anyway? It's gonna be fast and yet with it's 10 inch wheels it's going to handle like a brick. A really tippy brick.

Good for drags, I suppose. If you're 9.
