    Exclamation Big Red Rear Brake Problem???

    The rear brake on my 83 big red didnt work very well so i got new pads and return springs and greased everything up. I thought the drum was warped but i mesured it and its fine. And still the rear brake dosent slow down the trike very good. So yesterday i took it apart again and found that my new pads were only wearing on the top pad, the drum wasnt making contact with the bottom pad. To get the drum on i have to tap it on because the top pad is positioned too high. I only get 1/2 the pad contact. Are both pads the same size or did i get the wrong size?? maybe the cam and pivot point of the brake shoes is off. Im out of ideas.

    You may be right about the cam.Make sure both sides look the same.
    I would clean/grease it and then re-adjust the brake arm that attaches to the cam.Make sure the return spring is there also.
