how does a cam go bad? and a bearing freeze?

my bearing is frozen on the end of my cam and it was missing the dowel pin when i took it out. now i heard that it's because the oil pump is bad but how can you tell? and if i'm able to pull the bearing off can i re-use it? and what if i just leave it frozen on the end and get a dowel pin for it? i know i have a million questions but i CAN NOT find a good cam ANYWHERE on ebay or anything. what would happen if i continued to run it with the bearing frozen on the end with no dowel pin?

it normally go's bad from the oil pump crapin out you cant run it with the froze bering it will wreck the head and do even more damage..your best bet is to go to your local dealer ship and order a new cam and bering and dowle pin...if you cant get the cam and dowl pin from the dealership look in a scrap yard..but dont cheap out on getting a new bering..get a new one not used or elses you could have more problems
