new to site... need help finding parts

    howdy ya'll...

my name is Bryan and i'm new to this site, i found it while looking thru "Atv Sport" and thought i'd give it a shot.

i just purchased a '83 Yamaha 225 DX but it needs some parts and i'd love to find some new plastic for it, maybe even a manual... but ebay was not much help (plus i dont know what the going rates are for old 3 wheeler parts)... i had never heard of this trike before i bought it but i was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction.

thanks for any help you can give me

I saw some nice fenders for the 225dx on ebay friday afternoon, probably still there. They were kind of pricy but looked NICE.The same seller had a 2nd set
cheaper but faded bad. Keep watching ebay. They will come up.I bought an 83
225dx (parts bike) through the local papers for $125.I was going to use it to build my 84 but I'm having second thoughts, I may build two. ha

One more thought Bryan, when your checking ebay, use key words, tri moto, trimoto,or
ytm. That usually gets most of them. We may be bidding against each other. lol.

Welcome, post what parts you are looking for here. I know myself and others on this site have parts for the 225. Let us know what you need.

    thanks for your help guys...

i think i saw the fenders you were talking about on ebay... but i thought they were a bit pricey myself... do they come up for auction alot? i think i'll hold out until i actually get it running... i'm not done tearing into the motor to know what all i need (i think piston/rings) is Wiseco the best bet? and is there a place that sells them cheap or should i just go thru a local dealer?

    thanks again

hey there, welcome, i have a few 225dx parts, i have some rear plastics, there not SHOWROOM material, but still very usable, have the mudflaps on them too, the problems with them is there is a crack in the very back of the fenders behind the seat, and one of the mudflaps on one side is missing a little piece, also, since there yellow, and stock, they are a bit faded, but nothing some fine sandpaper and some polish wont fix. if your interested, i'll give you a good deal on them., i see your on pen., im up in NY so shipping shouldnt be too bad. if interested, drop me a PM.
Give me no lip and I tell you no lie.

I got a whole shop full of Yamaha parts.... I picked up a 250R this summer which has diverted me from my Yamaha projects. I bought a 225DX up in Watertown and had a whole trailer packed to the top with parts! (4 motors, 2 complete swingers, DuraBlue extended rear axle, wiring, brakes, racks, rims, hubs, etc)

I don't have much for plastics, but if I had some 225DX frames, I could build about 2-3 more of them!! You might need to make a road trip! I live near the Southern Tier of NY. What part of PA are you in?
