    front wheel bearings

I started hearing a squealing coming from my front wheel. I'm assuming its the bearings. Is it safe to ride on it for a while? If I hold the handle bars and shake the wheel should I be able to feel it?

    Exclamation Truthfully? Replace them asap.....

It's like pulling the pin on a grenade.....you've pulled the pin, not it's just a matter of time before they fail.

Mine were quiet as could be but I went ahead and changed them anyway while doing my forks.
    MAN!!!
You should have seen them! The old ones were rusty, crusty junk but LOOKED/SOUNDED okay from the outside!
You KNOW they were one or two rides from leaving me stranded in the woods somewhere!
That being said, I'd say yours are probably moments away from dying.
They're CHEAP and EASY to replace......at least they were on my '85 350X!
The peace of mind and safety is worth 1000 times what you're gonna pay for the bearings and seals.

AND...don't forget to pull one side of the bearing's little seals from both bearings and PACK THEM FULL of more bearing grease when you get them then re-install the seal.
The new bearings come with the bare minimum of grease from the factory.

Good luck and PLEASE take an hour or two to fix 'em.

The same thing happenned to my 200x a few weeks ago and is was the bearings that were gone and the metal piece that they sit into was scuffed up pretty bad so I replaced them and also got new brakes pads.
