    sprockets and goodies for tri z

    i need to replace my front sprocket. currently i have the stock one on it. im not sure what tooth it is becasue i havent counted it yet. what i am asking is, what kind of low end will i gain by raising it a tooth. will it be signifacantly better, will wheelies be easier, or should i stay stock. i usually do alot of trail riding with some stretches to open it up but mostly cruising and sandpits. any suggestions, things i should consider?

    You will not gain any Low end by adding a tooth. Youll gain high end by adding a tooth up front.

    And technically youre arent "gaining" or "losing" lowend with sprocket changes........youre changing the way the machine USES its power. People jsut seem to say (or probably think) thats how it is.

    The stock countershaft sprocket is 13 tooth, lowering it will increase bottom end, the lowest I have is 11 tooth, the largest is 17 tooth, any variation in between is still available!

    that makes sense, a lower gear ratio would achieve a feeling of more low end. but my question is, is it going to be a huge difference. am i not going to get good top end. when i wind her out will she still fly or will it not be as considerable? im talking just dropping it a tooth maybe two?

    Sprockets are cheap ($13 usually) so there sno big investment here if you dont like it. Youll drop maybe 5-7mph with a dropping a tooth in the front but youre acceleration will jump a bit, Opposite effect with adding a tooth up front.

    Dropping two teeth on the front of a 6 speed Z, is like moving every gear down one. Your 2nd gear will be about where 1st used to be. I run an 11T with 22" tires, and still rarely see high gear. On an 85, the gears are a little farther apart, so it would feel like slightly less than a full gear, but still be quite noticeable.

    i have a 12 on the front and stock on the rear. banshee front and rear sprockets fit the tri-z so you can get any size still
