    Arrow cr 125 engine?

I am looking at a 1989 cr 125 engine in my area and it needs a crank,my question is can a crank be rebuilt or do I have to buy a new one(how much?)?wheres a good place to buy engine parts for it and will any other years cr 125 parts interchange?(this is trike related because I might put the engine into a trike)

Back in 1984 my father had a 200x with a watercooled cr125 motor in it. He used to use it for flat track racing. There were two classes under 200cc and over 200cc. He used to enter it into both classes (yes its only 125cc) and beat most of the air cooled 250r riders (water cooled 250r wasnt invented) but the only things that would beat him were a Yamaha tri-z 250 (due to it being water cooled made it quick) and a guy that fitted a cr450 to a 250r...

As for your cranks, see the part numbers next to the corresponding models below and that will tell you what you can swap with.

In stock form, an 89 CR125R is very fast. 86 To 95 CR125R's ruled the roost in the power department. The 95 is the fastest. The 87 was faster than the 88, but not faster than the 89. They are very reliable engines. Make sure you do not bend the butter fly linkage on the power valve system. I am talking about the 2 or 3 inch long arm that connects the valve to the ball ramp inside the cases. It bends easily and will sieze your motor. Other than that, it is an awesome engine.

The linkage does not bend during use, only when doing top end rebuilds if you are not careful. When you take the screw or bolt off, make sure you get a phillips head screw driver and put it in the slot to the right of the linkage to stop the power valve from moving. If you get this engine and do not understand, get a manual, it tells exactly the same procedure I talking about with pictures.
