1980 ATC 110 carb question

I am rebuilding carb on 1980 ATC 110.
Carb does not seem to dirty. Soaking carb in mineral spirits.
The main jet is ok. (where slide needle seats)
My question is, there is another jet in front of that that is smaller.
I removed the jet. It is just a press fit and not screwed in body of carb.
I tried running a wire through hole on bottom and goes in a 32nd and seems blocked. I ran it through the top and goes down past the 8 holes drilled in the side of it and wire stops. I tried running my welding tip cleaner through it (which the hole is .35 in size and cannot run through. Seems i looked in it and seems it is supposed to be blocked off because i can see shiny brass down hole.
Is this supposed to be blocked?

I dont know that carb specifically, but I think you are talking about the pilot jet. Some pilot jets do not have an opening at the bottom, and only have several holes on its sides. Others may have both. The best way to check orifices that you are not sure about, or how they are routed is to spray some carb cleaner through the red plastic tube into the orifice and make sure its coming out somewhere else. Most carb clogs are caused by a spec of sand or something similar that must be blown out and will not disolve from solevents and cleaners.

thanks. iI was going to try the carb spray trick. I could not imaging that much dirt in jet.
my welding tip cleaners are pretty stout and have no had one jet that i haven't been able to clear out with them.
I think the fuel is routed to pilot jet through the main jet the way it looks.

tried carb spray trick and looks like it shot out through a hole on the air filter intake horn venturi.
I really think this pilot jet is plugged up bad even though my welding tip cleaner will not go through it. I am going to try and drill the obstruction out.

ok, drilled out crap in jet, (smaller size drill bit than hole in pilot jet) rebuilt carb using all new parts and trike will not idle, smokes (carberation smoke) and overall runs like crap.
Any suggestions?

you prolly drilled the jet too much.. pilot jet controls low speed.. such as idle.. ps.. i have never seen a pilot jet that pressed in.. id say 99% screw in

The pressed jet is a problem. You can easily and cheaply upgrade to the newer 110 carbs that do not have the pressed pilot. I had to as well. I think they start in 82 but you will need to double check scheme's on that.

Get an 83 carb, they have screw-in pilot jet.

I just started working on my 79 110 carb and it has the press fit pilot jet. I cannot see daylight through it and can't get a wire to go all the way through. When I check sites to order oem parts this pilot is #29 on the diagrams but it isn't listed in the parts below. Does that mean it is discontinued? It's a Keihin 35 press fit pilot.

Eeesh old thread. Have you tried soaking the carb with the jet in it in cleaner, ultrasonic machine, etc?

I'd say it's in your best interests to just get a new carb for it. It'll be easier to tune as well. As stated above 1982+ models came with an improved carb, you can get one from Dr.ATV (beatricecycles.com I believe was the address). Any china-bike/quad that uses a Honda-copy horizontal engine should also have the same style carb. Good luck!

I got a carb rebuild kit for my 1980 110 and the pilot jet on it is a screw in jet. I purchased a rebuild kit for it from the honda dealer. it cost me $24.00
