    1987 tri z???????????

ok heres the story, in my local autotrader there is a guy who has 2 mint z's, all factory standard and everything works, fresh rebuild on both and he wants $2,200 or near offer on both. now heres the catch, in the add it dosent have the year for the bikes so i ring him up and we start talking, i ask him what year they are and he replies 1987, i was like are you sure and he said positive and i then asked how many gears they have and he said five. the catch is they have the red and black colour scheme though.

    an help would be appreciated.

    cheers, ned

If its a 5 speed its definetly an 85 unless the engines have been swapped out. Yamaha quit production of the Tri-Z after 86 worldwide as far as I know.

Does that mean that an 87 would be a 7 speed?
