The answer to your question will most likely vary due to the differences in peoples experiences. I can't speak for the 5-speed '85, but I have owned several 6-speed '86 models. If I'm not mistaken, I once had a magazine that stated that the '86 topped out somewhere between 68-72mph. or so stock.
That's plenty fast enough to find yourself rubber side-up in the Great Gravel Pit in the sky, but the Z motor is a little soft when left stock. A competent tuner($), and a few well chosen parts can unleash some serious Yammie Fury, so how fast do you wanna go?
