Thumbs up 350X swing arm skidplate: TRX250X/TRX300EX fits!

My original swing arm skid was trashed on my last ride....time for an upgrade/replacement.
Since I refuse to pay the stupid prices people are paying for old, used stockers on Ebay, I needed a little ingenuity.
Soo.....I borrowed an aftermarket TRX250X aluminum skid from a friend and test-fitted it the other day.
It was VERY close, requiring only one hole to be drilled at the rear mount.
So I ordered a new one from my bike shop across the street (doesn't get more convenient than that!! ).

I haven't taken it out on the trail for "The Test" but it fits GREAT.

I don't have a brand name yet but the shop is supposed to get that for me soon.

    Part Number: AT-04213
    Fits: '91-01 TRX250X and TRX300EX

I'll update when I get a chance to beat on it a bit: SUNDAY!
    $74 with tax.

P.S. Before anyone asks....don't worry, that muffler is FAR away from the rear tire....the camera angle makes it look close. Stock TRX450R mufflers are an easy/inexpensive 350X replacement/upgrade!

    Thumbs up

Cool, thats good to know. Hey... Nice VW, What year? '65? I should post some pics of mine on here, I used to have a bunch of them, but sold all of the ones that werent worth saving. Mine is a 66 w/ a 1776 Dual 44 Webers, tons of gene berg parts, Performance Technology heads, Rancho Close Ratio Trans, puts out about 175 hp, Have a drag bug as well with a 2275 that isnt done yet. I stuck the 1776 in the drag bug, heavier than my street car, (Drag: 2000lbs w/ me in it) (Street:1650 w/ me in it) Ran a best of 14.015 @ 96mph in the 1/4 on street tires, spinning thru 2nd and 3rd. Anyways, thats pretty cool that there are some Trikers that are into VWs like me.

Why don't you guys just buy a 200x or a 350x one from prm? http://prm-atv.com/MN.asp?pg=products&grp=40&mfr=2 you will have to go back one page to get 86-87 200x skids/grab bars...

Why didn't I get it from PRM?
To put it bluntly? Finances. That's another almost $25-30+.
I've got some health insurance issues that are trying to kill me so every penny counts.
The PRM is a sweet piece, I'll admit it.

That is an interesting fact. I know where I may be able to get a skidplate off of an '87 250X. Is there a significant difference between an '87 and a '91 250X?

Hey , I bought one off of ebay for like 50-60 bucks it was a UM 300ex skid plate for the swinger. It looks good, only one hole to drill, and its holding up very well. It doesn't have a chain guide, but it does have protection so that the chain doesn't hit the skid plate.

there should be no difference in 250x and 300ex skid plates, and yes they fit with little mods, I have a 350x rear on my 250x, inch longer and better rear shock. I used my OMF 250x skid plate and made new mounts out on 1" box steel welded across the swing arm with nuts welded into the box steel for the mounting bolts. We did this back in the day when racing GNCC because it didn't take long to knock off the factory mounts off either swingarm ( if anyone finds an OMF plate with mounts attached in Davis WV where the Blackwater 100 was run, its mine!!! lol)
