recoil starter question

Does a recoil starter have a gasket between recoil and engine case on 1980 atc 110?

i had a 83 110 and it had a gasket i don't think it's necessary mine was shot so i just put a bit of silicone on it and it worked well to keep it dry,i don't imagine water would hurt it maybe just rott the rope quicker, plus in the winter when it gets wet and the rope gets stiff and doesn't wanna recoil thats a pain too..
