    1980 ATC 110 Maintanace Questions

    Been doing some searching on the forums here. Found some good info but not answers to all of my questions.

    I'd like to start off with just some easy maintanace items first.

    Oil: What weight?

    Spark Plug: Thread pitch and gap? Part # would be nice

    Some good info there I found

    Air Filter: http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/s...110+air+filter
    Not to big on fancy upgrades... OEM one still available? Part # ?

    Gas: This thing is a 4 stroke right? 87 octane fine?

    Anyting else I need to tend to? She has'nt been fired up in years. What else should I check and/or replace?

    A good brand 10/40 is best oil (I use valvoline synthetic blend in all my rides)

    spark plug / NGK - D8HA p/n - 7112 gap - .028

    OEM air filter - Uni p/n - NU-4037ST (this is the type that fits in air box)

    87 octane is good and will work well. The higher the octane, the hotter the motor will get.

    I would fill tank, pull float bowl drain plug out of carb, turn on petcock and let some gas flush out anything that might have settled in carb.

    Oil weight - 10w40 or 10w30 ( I prefer synthetic, but standard is fine too)
    Plug - NGK D8HA

    It is a 4 strike, and in its stock form will probably run fine on 87 octane. If it knocks and pings, switch to a higher octane.

    For your air filter, I would suggest a Uni or Moose from Dennis Kirk for $12-$15, not because its a fancy performance modification, but because its less expensive than the stock one. They are foam elements, very similar to your stock one, supposedly better, but you wont notice the difference if there were one.

    In addition to putting in a new plug and air filter, and changing the oil, draining the gas tank and making sure you have completely fresh gas in it, you should probably pull the carb, remove all the jets, and clean it with some carb cleaner, as they tend to get varnished up from sitting long periods of time, unless the gas had been drained form the carb before it was parked.

    On cleaning the carb check the pilot jet vary small opening and the varnish loves to plug it up. I use a welding tip cleaner to clean out the opening a very small tip cleaner.
