450R muffler mod! EASY!

Hey there folks!
450R muffler man here.
I actually had a few minutes in the garage the other day.
My brother picked up the HRC Power-Up kit for his TRX450R.
I took a good hard look at the replacement tip included in the kit and thought....."hmmm, I can do that...".
One thing lead to another, an hour later I had myself a tip.
The original is approx. 15/16" OD, my replacement is 2" OD (HRC is even bigger! ).
Check out the "spark arrestor" I incorporated.

Guys and gals this thing sounds PERFECT.
I imagine it's legal loud by a long shot. No guarantees.
Definitely louder than stock but not as loud as aftermarket mufflers.

The same thing is available on ebay (a homemade tip) for about $40 or so if you can't make your own.
The Honda tip is not available yet from the dealer (unless you buy the HRC kit)-there's one on Ebay right now used.
I've heard the Honda tip is around $80...stainless of course.

So that mesh screen is the spark arrestor? Very nice werk on that "new" tip. I may have to make one of those mesh screens for my Tecate's DG system so I dont piss off everyone that hears it.

heres a pic of mine with 450 pipe it had a cobra mega phone on it when i got i hated it it was way to loud im running this one with no spark arrestor and i sounds real good. thanks for the cheap mod i would rather have something like this than a 300$ pipe anyway

Just in case the park ranger ever checks our bikes, at least I'll pass the visual for having an arrestor of some sort.
The Honda HRC tip arrestor is slightly different but not that much.

Great job on the muffler!
That's why I did mine...I had NO interest in shelling out that kind of money for an obnoxiously loud pipe.
Honda built quality, stainless, easy-to-mount, quiet, flows plenty.....say no more, right?

cool!how does it run?

I removed the air box lid and jetted it up at the same time as the tip.
With that done, it's now officially a wheelie-monster!
Throttle response and off-idle torque is amazing.
And the exhaust note is right on.

I haven't had a chance to REALLY ride it but putting around the yard.
Because it's been monsoon season around here so the woods are pure slop and my favorite riding place is about 50 miles away and not enough time to pack up and go. Darn!

Believe me.....you'll get a full report once I do go!
