    Opinions: Tri Moto 175

Ok, here's the deal, locally there's a really clean 82-83? Yamaha Tri-Moto 175 for sale. I currently own a KLT 160 which is too slow and not powerful enough for my type of riding, at the same time in the past I've owned a 85 Honda 250 SX. Knowing this, my question is will the Tri-Moto have enough speed and power for me? Also I never ridden a two stroke with a centifugal clutch, four strokes have low end to get away with this, but a 2 stroke I'm not sure of. Any opinions on this?

6'0" This 175 should about the same size as my KLT 160 right? If it is, it will be fine.

Yamaha YT175 is not fast at all. I smoked one with my 86 FatCat. Still fun in the mud though. I sugest something else with full suspension, if you want to go fast.

They're fun to play around with but they're not fast and no suspension. They do pop some nice wheelies.

What kind of riding are you planning to do?

Ya, we had one that went through 2 pistions within a year. It's possable the they have cooling problems. The engine is kinda shrouded in. Maby we just push them too hard.

i cooked mine in the snow, i believe that i had mix problems. it ws my first 2 stroke and i don't think i had it mixed properly . theye were a blast though. it was tricky to ride on some of the trails that we rode cause of the power band on the hills. it was pretty quick to pull the front wheel up. i like that it had a centrifigal clutch. fun bike . i bought it for $25. blew it up and sold it to a buddy for $100 . a year or so later , i wired his barn for electric and he gave me the bike back. now i have to rebuild it

I have a tri moto 125 and its fairly fast i would guess about forty. they will do good wheelies. i like the no rear suspension no chain adjustments it pulls pretty good too. I sunk mine in 4 foot of swamp water while doing some great donuts

I think I'm gonna pass on this then. I had an 85 250 SX about a year ago and it was borderline with top end speed for me. Any kind of open space riding I would struggle to keep up with my friends. Looks like I'll wait and look for either a 250 2 stroke or maybe a 350X. Thanks for the info guys
