Can someone let me know if I need to round a rear skid plate up. I am restoring my 350X, and it did not have one on it. Actually it had a tiny chunk of the original still bolted on. Not much there. THe size of a business card. My question is do I need one? Does it protect the sprocket/chain, and brake disc from being hit? Please let me know. If it does protect them, I will definately want one. Anyone have a spare? I will buy it.

Yes they are there to protect the sprocket, chain, and brakes. I don't have one on the 350X I am building either. I am looking at an aftermarket one for mine. I think both DG and PRM make one.

Yeah you should definately get one. Mine still has the stock one but i am thinking about buying a PRM one. Those things are made of solid aluminum and real thick.

I too am looking for one. I just bought my 350X a few months ago and it does not have one either. A word of advise - I was reading (can't remember if it was here or .org) that the 300EX and TRX250R skid plates will mount up with very minor mods (ie - re-drilling two mounting holes on the skid plate). They might be cheapier than one for a 350X. Have nmot looked into this deep enough yet though.

Well thats good. I will definately have to find one. I read MO350Xs post about the TRX skidplate that would bolt up with a couple of mods. Maybe it will work out, or I can get one from PRM. It looks like the PRM is a bit more though.

I have 5 350x's and only one had a rear skidplate. It has never even been on a bike and i have enver had anything damaged because the lack of one. I use my roter and sproket as a 3rd wheel back there.

I ended up going with a PRM plate. worked out well and was quite scratched up when I sold the bike.

I have the PRM on my 350X as well. They make great stuff. I have the PRM desert grab bar on my 350X and kept the one off my 450R, gonna put it on my 06. I plan on putting their desert grab bar on my 250R if I ever deceide to work on it again.

Not to jump your thread but we talking Skidplates so:
I have been thinking of Building Rear Skidplates, Belly Pans and Nerf Bars for the Tecate now that I have use of a shop. My question is does anyone make them for Tecates? Im sick of the Tecate getting no love, thats why I want to build them. Plus I wont ride my Tecate on anything but grass and Sand untill I get one. If anyone knows of a company that builds Skidplates for Tecates plz let me know.
I will be picking up a 86 200X this weekend, does PRM make Skidplates for them, and if so did anyone have any trouble mounting it. I must say PRM makes some real nice stuff. If you need one for your 350X and PRM makes them I would go with that. Get their Grabbar allso, real sweet product.
