    Question 1986 250R Stock Horsepower?

I tried a search and it came up WAY too vague.

I've read between 30 and 38 on the 'net.

If anyone can post a link directly to a good thread for an answer, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again for your help, folks!

the 89 TRX250R's are commonly known to have made around 38. Its estimated the ATC R's made in the 36 range or something pretty close to it.

    Great thread.
    This link shows 39hp. http://www.honda.co.jp/news/1985/2850808.html

Then the atc would be #3 on the graph being 291 lbs.

I belive the 250r quad had less hp then the atc, at least in 88'.

they probably did make less hp but they where geared different, they probably made it feel like it has more power with the way they geared the 88-89 motors tho,but you can buy the 88-89 gears for the (85?)86-87 motors, i never heard wich ones were better for what tho

    I would go with what that C. of O. shown above says but the most commonly refered to rating is the 29Kw one from the '85 Brochure - 29Kw converts to 38.8hp. 1984 250R has 21kw or 28hp, 1982/83 250R 18kw or 24hp, '81 250R 16Kw or 21.5hp.

Here's an old Honda spec sheet I got from England a couple years ago. The file is 179KB so sorry it's big, but I didn't want to compress the image any further and ruin the read ability. It has some specs on the 250R
