Cheng Shin makes a knobby that's perfect for that.

No idea why they decided to use a picture of an un-inflated tire for the ad. lol
For ice its all about surface contact. You dont want a rounded profile tire. On that Cheng Shin youll only have the center of the tire making contact. Get a flat profile tire with lots of knobs like a Turf Tamer. Im assuming you are talking about ice racing on a frozen lake or something, and not ice and snow trail riding.
You can stud just about any tire but if you plan to race and be competative you will need the cheng shin 18x9.5x8 that dammit showed. If you just want to ride around on the ice any flat surface tire will work for that. Use the shortest studs and you shouldn't have any problems with punctured tires.
The cheng shin is a flat profile tire (hard to tell since it's not mounted or inflated but I'm pretty sure it's the right one in the pic). The bike shop I used to be the grease monkey/gopher boy for back in the 80's used to sell cheng shin knobby tires pre-studded. All the local ice racers swore by them.Originally Posted by TimSr

Make sure you use good studs too (not sheet metal screws) Once you stud your tires don't ride on anything but ice or you will start tearing studs out and you will get flats.

I stand corrected. I was looking at 3wheelrkid's link, and thinking Cheng Shin as most of their tires look like that one.
