truck drivers here are the most ignorant people i know. me and my freind were out on a ride and my 110 died after trying to cross a river, so were sitting there next to the rive trying to get it goin again and then this A hole in a landy came raoring around the corner, sparying us in mud and dirt. he then goes out of site and 10 mins later comes back and floors it through the river, causing the water to come up and soak us and our gear and then has the nerve to say hello, how are we today boys as he leaves.
but if we see someone walking or riding a pushy, we turn off straight away or if its not convenient, slow rite down. and as you guys have said, its all really about common sense

    sorry had to vent.lol

    Common sence is the key.

Trash: Treat your riding area's like you want people to treat your place. Do you want people to pile trash on your Yard? Then Don't pile it on their trails. I know we got praise from Pete at Trikefest 02, 03, 04 for cleaning up after ourselves. My brother and myself had to clean up after one group ( with TF04 ). I am sure others have had to do the same.

If it happens at TF05 I will make note of the people / riders that done it. Public Humiliation might help them change.
Could you imagine how clean out riding area's would be if everyone picked up after themselves, and picked up 1 extra piece of trash everytime they went riding?

Trails: Do you want people to make a new driveway in your yard? Then don't make new trails without permission.

Noise: People complain about trucks using their Jake Brakes. But yet they will install a loud exhaust on their machine, and or rev up their machine / sterio all hours of the night.

Let me add Running from the cops: Running from the cops is another big no no. How the heck can you expect them ( Cops ) to respect you when you won't pull over when they tell you too? I could go on here but we talked about this before. Running from them is stupid, and some day it will come back and get you.

Just thought i would clear this up. When i said before that we like to make new tracks i meant the sort of tracks that weave in and out of salt bushes on the sand dunes and burn up the sides (like a mini moto cross track on the dunes) We dont actually destroy the wild life.

As most of you have said respect is the key. Something that really annoys me is when you are riding down a one way track and some one comes the other way, usually what happens is whoever is closesed to a widened section of the track pulls over and lets the other rider pass, but sometimes you get Aholes (usually yuppie quad riders) who dont pull over and you are forced into the shrubs to avoid an accident.

    - When you see someone broken down , stop and help however you can, either with tools, a tow, mechanical know how etc....

I have stopped to help someone with a flat before and out of 10 riders only 2 stopped and asked if they could help . If it was you broken down, i'm sure you'd apreciate someone stopping to help you.

    - Teach people to ride, when you are in a group and you know a few are new riders, stop pull them over, explain what path to take and give advice when you can. I'm a new rider and i hate it when i get to a tough mud hole and everyone crosses before i get there and am left to figure it out. ( wich is ok at times.. but i don't like drouning the bike and being towed home.. mind youit has not happened yet, but i've seen it happen !! )

This thread not only applies to off roaders but all people in general. Look at the world we live in today. People have no respect for anything anymore.

Granted there are probably more off roaders that do respect others than there are those that don't, but the do nots give all the good guys a bad rap across the board. And how do we pay for it? Increased fees, more rules and regulations and closed riding areas.

As far as trash goes, if you haul it in, haul it out, and take a little extra with you to leave your camp or area cleaner than it was when you arrived.

I agree with you Howdy and all the other peopleIve been stopped 2 times on my 200s before by OPP(Ontario Provincial Police) and they say for me to get a slow moving sign and things like that, whenever I get pulled over I see the lights stop immediatly and then be as kind as I can with my best tone in my voice and not to be a jack***.

well i agree with most of it but the horses on the tracks..thats not right..who in there right mind would take a horse on an mx track?? not many poeple..but i also see the people riding the horses view..it may have once been a track or some trails for horses and now the atv a holes started riding and turned it into an mx track..but u gotta look at both sides on most of this stuff...o and goin up to a strangers house to ask for permission to ride..it does take some nerve..i had to the other day..but also on passing the horses..i have no starter now in my trike.. go figure... its mine..lol but anyway..i cant just shut off my engine going by a horse to be kind..i mean i can slow down but if i shut it off..i got to get off the trike and push it in 5th to get it goin again..i hate doin it cause sometimes it wants to be gay and flood or somethin..(my trike)...so i take it slow and dont f with the horses tryin to scare them cause ive seen them mofos go through fences just from getting scared..not cool..and especially if a rider is on it..but yea i cant just stop...and around here not many people care if its loud or quiet..but if its loud dont be ridin all the dam time after dark..that pisses everyone off...i got my exhaust fixed so im ok to ride pretty much whenever..no more straight pipe..i put a kerker silencer on the end..lol..i think i gotta little more power out o but thats not the point of the story or thread here so enough on that..i agree with most of the stuff on here..especially the litter
