Kasey & Wolf, You beat me to it. Flywheel weights have been around for 20+ years with no ill effects. Woods and Enduro riders have been using them forever on 2 strokes and swear by them. Read any Dirt Rider or similar dirt bike related magazine and you will see ads for this type of product. I personally would not choose this type of mod. I would chose an appropriate tire & gearing combo as well as run a stock carb and a nice torque pipe.

Well from find a new dealer to completely the opposit. Wow. . You guys are fun.

Seriously tho I am going for this. I searched and read reviews. I dont think I have anything to lose here. If its not to my liking I can easily reverse this. I do so like that option.

jenndnn3, I would certainly recommend the Paul Turner low-end pipe and silencer for your bike if your after great throttle response and four-stroke like torque. I've never seen such a dramatic difference. We installed one on my nephews 85 2 weeks ago. This thing will literally spin the tires with a crack of the throttle, while on a wheelie!
They recommended switching to a 38mm carb, which we did. Now the bike not only makes great torque, but huge power all thru the power band. As a matter of fact, we're switching to a thumb throttle just because it is so unpredictable.

90% of the time, people will recommend things for your bike, when they really don't know what you want. I tryed to talk to anyone that knew how to set one up, you really have to sift thru the replys and choose yourself. I would think that fiberglass reeds would tend to make more torque as they would open sooner than Carbon-fiber. I would also assume that an intake spacer would help low-end. As far as flywheel weight, I couldn't tell you. I personally don't think I would want my engine to rev slower, as I tend to get into situations where I NEED to break the tires loose QUICK.

    my 2 cents

Flywheel weights turn a pipey 2 stroke into a woods riding animal.I had a Stealy flywheel weight(12 or 13 oz if i remember right) on my KX250(stock motor w/PSI exaust) when I raced hare scrambles. Like the other guys said,It makes the power more manageable in the tighter woods trails. It doesnt put any extra strain on a motor/crankshaft. We can give advice all day long,,I say buy one and try it out.If you dont like it,put it on ebay.

"thats why the WR250F has a heavier flywheel then the YZ250F"

acualy it has more to do with the lighting coils and charging coils..needs more magnets and such...now u want to see somthing fun...pull the stator out of a wr450f and run a total loss system....cr500 revs and klx 650 botom end...ride ability.,..NONE...

oh and a heavyer flywheel will make it not as important to slip the clutch as much and you dont have to be in the power band all the time..
