I think Im phrasin that right. Will an 86 rear from an SX fit an 85 frame? I ask because from what I understand the 85 didnt really have an enclosed axel and the 86 did. So if it will fit I will steal one from a junk 86 trike I have.

yes it will, the axle and the swingarm are different but fit in the frame just fine cause the 85 and 86 frames are exactly the same. My frame on my 86 broke in half and i swaped it with a 85 frame and everything fit on it perfect!!

I have an 85 SX and the rear axle is enclosed on it ?????
Does yours have an exposed axle ?

All SX axles are inclosed. For some reason I was thinking that the only difference was where and how the rear shock mounts.
