Tecate; Help with Timing
Well the stator plate is lined up correctly and bolted into place. The flywheel however will not line up with the mark on the case. Its either an inch in front or an inch behind. Both the stator plate and flywheel are rickystator pieces. Anyone hae some helpful advice to set this correctly?
-
The flywheel will only go on one way as it uses a keyway on the crank. Tighten the flywheel nut to 22 N-m.
-
I know it only mounts one way but when mounted the mark on the flywheel does not line up with the mark on the case. Sorry for the confusion.
-
the mark on the flywheel is not supposed to line up with the mark on the case. The mark on the flywheel is used to find TDC of the engine with a dial indicator.
-
So if the stator plate is set correctly then it shouldnt matter how the flywheel is bolted on as long as its lined up with the key?
-
Correct. Also make sure the moon key is in good shape before getting it all back together.
-
cool, so that means the timing is not whats causing my bike not to start. gonna buy new plugs tomorrow.

Did you buy the coil packs and assemle it yourself or did you buy a complete stator? I had problems when i bought the coil packs because the directions were very sketchy
-
nah I bought the complete kit, stator and flywheel preassembled
