Hi i just bought a stock 86 250r and was wondering if they get hard to start when it gets cold out? am i going to be kicking for hours? lol

and i was also wondering if there is any way that you can adapt and electric starter? and if it is hard to do?

2 strokes in general are extremely easy to start (or at least they should be if everything is working correctly). Some of the big bore ones can be a bit of a pain but a 250 should be a breeze even in the cold.

If you put an electric start on a 250R I'll be forced to come to your house and liberate that trike. That's like putting sweaters on dogs. Just don't do it.

Thumbs up The first time I started mine.....

The temps were in the low-40's (a couple weekends ago).
Mind you, this was THE FIRST time I'd cold started it.

On the fourth kick she was at fast idle.
    EFFORTLESS.
I was amazed at how EASY it was to start.
Once warm, it was a one-kicker.
    Beautiful.

It puts my 350X to shame for "ease of starting".
The old X is like kicking over a Harley!

Maybe you should goto your local Polaris shop and look at all the electric start 2 strokes that they offer.

My R always started on the 2nd kick even in cold weather.
I had the RIGHT to remain silent, I didn't have the ability!
