85 250sx ignition ?

since i don't have a key for the elec start and my local dealer wants 50 bucks for a new cylinder and key can i just pull the cyl. out and jump some wires together to bypass it altogether. making the start button hot all the time?

I wouldnt reccomend it. The guy I got my 250 Big Red from did that and screwed more stuff up. Shorted a couple wires and componets. Call a salvage yd or watch ebay. They go for about $30

will an ignition from a 125m work? i can just swap ign. cylinders right?

Just hook up a toggle switch in there. It Doesn't pass that much current through the key switch so a normal auto one should work.

i may still get the 125 ignition. it is on ebay for a dollar with a key. if that doesn't fit i will get a toggle.

A TRX125 ignition can be modfied to work. The difference is in the plug connector. If you have your 250sx ignition switch you can just change the wires over.

Pretty much anything will work if you are willing to cut some wires.

I have a 1978 Enduro 125 key/switch on one of my 250sx's. I was always staying out at the camp and I had to get a key on it so no one would take my bike for a spin.
