Does anyone have an 85' Honda 200x? Is it supposed to have an ignition and a key? Or do you just slide the switch to run and kickstart it? Does it have to be in neutral when you start it or in 1st gear? I still cannot figure this out. I don't know if there is anything electrical missing or not but I cannot get this to start. Please help.

Mine has a key but thats "custom" ... it can be in first to start if you want, just pull the clutch in. set it to run and kick it over... check for spark .. do you have any?

A stock 85 200x doesn't have a key'd ignition. The kill switch ( slide ) is on the handle bars with the light switch. It needs to be in the middle ( Run ) position to start. You don't have to have it in neutral for it to start / run. It can actually be started in any gear.
Won't start? Have you checked to see if your getting spark, fuel, and compression?
