I am looking for some kind of high heat paint to go on my 350x exhaust. My dad says that none of them last long so dont even worry about it, but I thought I heard something in one of the posts that read about a special paint that would work? Anyone have any ideas?

duplicolor high temp paint go to autozone and that paint is good up to 1200 degrees! i rode my r all over in the dunes on trails in rocks and never did it come off

I use VHT high temp paint and have never been let down by it. Just make sure that you clean it up good before painting it. I would suggest you have the pipe sand blasted first then you know that it will be good and clean.

is it a cobra? if it is the 1200 degreese stuff wont do the trick!

I use Ace Hardware Heat Resistant paint Rust stop $4.00 No bake off.Flat black looked good on all stock pipes iv'e done

One time my dad sent his race car headers in to get one of those Jet Hot coatings....that worked very nicely for several years until he sold the headers. Only problem was it scratches off a little easily
They have some VHT paint with a higher temp rating then the manifold paint at my local automotive store...I think it was for brake parts or something.

BBQ Black wont work on cobras! Tried it many times.
Im going to try some of that 1200degree.

Jet hot or a similar ceramic coating is probably going to be the most durable. I put about 3 cans of a high temp semi gloss paint on my Tri-Z exhaust, and it still looks ok in most places except right where the pipe goes on the cylinder, and also a little further down where all the dirt and rocks kickup from the front wheel.

I don't know that jet hot would survive the rocks and stuff getting thrown up either though...it's not that hard to scratch up. Main thing is not to scrape it on everything when installing the part
Also those VHT engine and manifold etc paints have ceramic in them.
