I suppose I better add another oddity to this story.

We too looked at his 85 R for sale, that was 100% in great shape, but asked about the post on .org because it said that it was blown up. He replied that he has 2 85 250Rs for sale or parts. When we asked us for some new pictures of it, he replied that his camera had just busted the batteries and he had no way of getting new ones. I think it would ease everyones mind if you borrowed a digital camera and took us a picture of both bikes together, with the good one running.
