well, one of my friends had one on his 200e big red and after about a year of pulling it with the pull starter the steel cable wore a groove in the pull start case.

go with rope just make sure you have that rubber grommet in so it doesnt cut the rope
we rigged a cable to ours and it cut a 2 inch long groove in the recoil cover.
1986 350X K&N filter, DG Krome Power exhaust
1982 110 UNI filter, Cobra megaphone exhaust
1982 honda 110 exhaust for sale, PM me.
Stick with the rope, the cable is an absolute piece of crap! I had one on my 200s and no matter how tight you made the recoil spring to winde the cable in it still hung out about 6". The cable was too stiff. Go to the boat shop and get braided nylon line for boat application's, it wear's a lot longer and is stronger.
1985 Honda ATC 250 Big Red

my 200s has a groove worn on the recoil. and its had rope forever. i guess that shows how much trouble my dad used to have with it.
