    250es Stator

a tooth came off my starter gear and chewed up my stator pretty good, but it is only 1 straight groove all the way around it...I'm wondering if there is anyway to fix it like soldering the groove. The only used one i can find costs $150 and that's a little too much right now

Maybe you could check you local alternator/starter shop and see if they could rewind it for you. Sorry to say but I believe that it is shot. You can't solder the wires back together.

Before you put it back together you need to check your one way clutch. If the kick starter doesn't slip ever you should be in good shape. But if you have problems with it grabbing sometimes it is safe to say the one way clutch is bad. I found out the hard way on this one and couldn't figure out why I kept tearing up starter reduction gears. Everytime a gear breaks drops right into the stator and tears it up.
As far as new stator is concerned keep an eye out on Ebay. I have seen them go from $50.00 and up sometimes.
    Good Luck!

A damaged stator such as you descriped can't be fixed and last. kdagenais is right about checking the one-way clutch. 99% of the time it is the reason for breaking starter gears. Do a search on the forums here ( one-way clutch ) for more info. TRhe 250sx and 250es motors are basically the same.

Also, I might be able to fix you up with a stator and possibly some starter gears. A used stator for $150 is way too much!! PM me if your interested.
